LBC and PONY Age Divisions
Shetland Division (4-6yrs) Must not turn 7 on or before April 30
Shetland (6U) focuses on instruction for the beginning player. Players learn the fundamentals of baseball. Game play utilizes the batting tee. A Safe-soft ball is used for safety. Games are limited to one hour and all team members bat and play the field each inning. When possible, players are assigned to teams with their schoolmates. There are no tryouts. An emphasis is placed on scheduling games with teams from within the same District. All coaches are volunteers.
Each player receives a baseball jersey and a hat as part of their registration. League registration normally covers a majority of costs. Players should have access to a glove. Please consult your coach before purchasing equipment. Batting helmets are supplied by the League; however, this may be an item you may wish to consider purchasing.
Pinto Division (8U) Must not turn 9 on or before April 30
Pinto Division players continue to learn the basic fundamentals of baseball with an introduction to more advanced concepts. A pitching machine is utilized at this level with an emphasis on putting the ball into play and developing fielding ability. Batters receive 6 pitches, strike out at three missed swings or fail to get a hit, there are no walks. A Safe-soft ball is used for safety. Innings are limited to five runs, or three outs and the score is kept during games. There is no stealing or leading off. When possible, players are assigned to teams with their schoolmates. An emphasis is placed on scheduling games with teams from within the same District.

Players should have access to a glove and rubber molded cleats. Batting helmets are supplied by the League; but this may be an item you may wish to consider purchasing. Please consult your coach before purchasing equipment. While it is possible that some players may develop aptitude and skills for certain positions, in is encouraged that all players experience all aspects of the many positions.
Mustang Division (10U) Must not turn 11 on or before April 30
Each player receives a baseball jersey and a hat as part of their registration. Mustang players begin training in the complete game of baseball. Games are played with regulation baseballs, base stealing is permitted with no lead offs, and pitching from the stretch are introduced. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division. Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played. If there is interest, there can be an end of season tournament.
Bronco Division (12U) Must not turn 13 on or before April 30
Bronco players continue their development in the complete game of baseball. The diamond is extended to 70 feet and the pitching mound is 50 feet. There is a stricter enforcement of balks. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division. Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played. If there is interest, there can be an end of season tournament.
Specialized equipment is not provided at this level.
Pony/Colt Division (15U) Must not turn 16 on or before April 30
Players continue their development in the complete game of baseball. The diamond is extended to either 80 feet and pitching mound is 54 feet or bases or 90 feet and pitching is at 60'6". Teams may be comprised of players from throughout the city. Divisions are made up of similar caliber teams. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division. Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played. If there is interest, there can be an end of season tournament.
Parents should be aware that there may be additional team fees at this level. Specialized equipment is not provided and there is an expectation of travel at this level.
